How do I prove ownership of private stock?
Useful evidence may include a signed purchase agreement, SAFE or note, stock certificate, issuer ledger statement, cap-table confirmation, transfer-agent record, conversion notice, or custodian statement.
No single document should be stretched beyond what it states. A wire proves payment, not necessarily current ownership. A SAFE proves contractual rights, not automatically issued shares. Preserve dates and provenance, and request the missing official record.
